Berlinale Fever

There have been a couple of quiet days on this blog again... sorry for that, but Berlinale captered me and put me in a fever.

Now that the opening ceremony is over, I am free to watch movies until next weekend. I already had the pleasure to the Austrian competition movie "Paradies: Hoffnung" but I am not sure yet, what to think of it. Anyways, here's some pics from my visit at Friedrichstadtpalast yesterday. The pics are not the sharpest... I was shaking... it was cold.

Be a star in Ischgl

Wednesday to Friday I was invited to explore the village Ischgl in Tyrol, Austria. I got to stay at a fancy 4-star hotel, ate the most delicious food, skied wonderful slopes with a private ski guide, and got pampered with hair, make-up and a photo shoot. Here's some pics of the shoot. For more pics and info on the trip, follow on www.travelettes.net!

As you see, I was wearing my own clothes for the shooting: cape/coat, cardigan - H&M, shirt - American Apparel, bandeau top underneath - Kidney Karen, skinny - Gina Tricot, boots - Zalando

Have a  great remaining weekend!

New In: Even & Odd Boots

Actually, I thought I could proudly say, that I haven't shopped in almost a month... however, on Thursday, I did something bad. I checked out Zalando's show sale.
It was the first time I ordered with Zalando, and I am very satisfied with my purchase. I ordered Thurday night, and had the shoes at home on Saturday by noon. That's what I call fast! The shoes have a great fit, and I even survived my first tour with them, dispite all the snow and ice on the streets : )
As I needed some elegant boots with heels anyways, these came just in time.
This week is full of suprises, I'll be at the office two days, and then I'll take an exciting trip "down south"! I'll tell you more about it later that week!

I like to play. play.

I like to play around with the pictures I take. Lucky me, that I stumbled across a Travelettes-post yesterday, just after I took some outfit pics in my living room. I didn't know, that I could edit my photos directly on my camera - you can find the "creative filters" in the menu. And whereas my little friend does not know what the fisheye is, I kind of fell in love with the miniature effect.
If you owe a Canon 600D, 650D or 60D, this is definitely something you should try!

Thanks for sharing, Marie. Another reason to spend more time with my camera : )

Introducing... Globe Hope

Another green label which I encountered at the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin last week is Globe Hope. This Finnish label does not need to produce any new fabrics or other materials, as all they use for their designs is recycled materials.

They mainly use old uniforms to sew new clothes and bags. They also fix these fabrics with new prints. Other than with other up-cycling labels, the original piece of clothing is only identifiable considering the fabric. The original form or purpose is completely invisible. Skipping through the standard collection at the showroom, I found many beautiful things. I also had a look at the online shop and their press material. Here's my favourites:

The label also does designs for men. The materials for the clothing usually come either from the army, hospitals or vintage stores. Sometimes they also get huge bulks of unused curtain fabric from furniture stores. Other materials (mainly for accessoires and bags) are advertising banners, seatbelts or zippers. Globe Hope can make fashionable items from almost everything : )

As the label originally comes from Finland (where it is already established), this is also where the designers produce. Definitely worth a try! At the moment it's sale in their online shop!

Pinning Faves #4

Time for another set of my favourite pins:
1. Are you planning to travel for a longer period, spending several seasons away from home? Here's the ultimate guide to packing for every occasion. A couple travelling the world with only one suitcase each. Additionally to being handy, this is just a cute story -> Mr & Mrs Globe Trot.
2. An inspirational piece of photography. Find the original pin here - unfortunately the actual link does not work anymore...
3. To mention it to everyone: I miss my best friend - Berlin and Vienna are too far apart : ( (the pin is here)

Have a nice monday!

Introducing... Elsien Gringhuis

When I entered the GREENshowroom, this was the first label, I came across - obviously because it was situated in the first room, right before I even saw the corridor with the other rooms...

Elsien Gringhuis is a dutch label, which focuses on sustainability. The designer sets a high value on innovative pattern to minimize the waste. With her green fashion she could already yield numerous prices, like Createurope or the Fair Luxury Award.

I liked the fairy-like blouses which I saw in the showroom. I received beautiful lookbook cards, and could not choose my favourite look. All the designs are very straight forward. The colors range from simple black/white to elegant bordeaux and deep green. If I could, I would buy every single piece of the new collection - except maybe the red dress with the puffy arms, those look always strange on me...; but especially the black&bordeaux coat!
Anyways, these images should convince everybody, that green fashioncan easily come out of its hiding. Green is not the opposite of fashionable, it's exatcly that!

Definitely a label, which I will follow in the future!
